Source Standards

• Every story carries its sources.Typed, counted, and listed on the story’s own page — primary documents weigh above wire copy, wire copy above commentary.
• Two-source floor for any factual claim that could move a decision; a single-source claim is labeled as such.
• Maps tell the truth about area. The front page is drawn on a true globe — size-honest by construction. Any flat map this publication renders uses the Equal Earth equal-area projection: Africa is drawn the size of Africa.
• Confidence is stated in bands — low, medium, high — never in false-precision percentages.

The Role of the Machine

The Griffin Brief is compiled by an editorial system: software that reads the day’s record, cross-checks claims, and drafts under the fixed standards on this page. We disclose this because it is true, and because a record that hides its own method cannot ask you to trust its sources. Every story must answer one question: what changes because this happened?

Corrections

Printed editions are immutable— what ships at dawn stays as shipped, fingerprinted by SHA-256. Corrections are issued forward: a correction appears in the next edition and on the story’s own page, dated. A correction never silently rewrites the record; it is added to it.

Machine Readers

This publication expects to be read by people and by their agents, and sets the table for both:

• /llms.txt — the machine index: what this is, where today’s brief lives, how to cite it.
• /brief.md — today’s edition as clean markdown.
• /feed.xml and /feed.json — RSS and JSON Feed editions of the daily brief.
• Edition fingerprints— each issue’s SHA-256 is published in the front page’s folio at print; verify any quote against the record.
• Citation policy— quote freely with attribution and a link; the story’s own page is the canonical source.
